Barite Rose Rocks are unique geological formations that are found only in certain areas of central Oklahoma. They are made up of barite crystals that have formed into a rosette shape, creating a distinct and beautiful appearance. The process of formation of these rocks is quite rare and involves the right combination of weathering, groundwater, and minerals. The sandy soil in the region is thought to provide the perfect conditions for the growth of these crystals. While Barite Roses can be found in a few other parts of the world, the ones found in central Oklahoma are considered some of the finest examples. The combination of their unique shape, increasing rarity, and cultural significance makes them highly sought after by collectors and researchers alike.

Barite Rose Rocks are moderately low on the Mohs scale (hardness level), and can be easily damaged if stored with other rocks (including other Rose Rocks). Store your roses individually with padding or bubble wrap to keep them safe.
And, to avoid fading, display them out of direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
My Native American husband's family owns land in Oklahoma county, and the Garber Sandstone Formation (where rose rocks are formed) runs right through the area. Given full permission (and extremely thankful), I collect the roses from their land!
